Greetings. I'm Yanique Williams, founder of Full Joy Mental Health Services, located in the heart of Bethesda, Maryland. I'm a therapist, and for almost five years I've had the privilege of walking alongside individuals and families working to rebuild trust, repair relationships, and foster healthier communication after estrangement, separation, conflict, or distant contact.
What this work has taught me
One of the most important things I've come to understand in this work is how easily the voice of the children involved can get lost, even when everyone around them has good intentions. Making sure that voice is heard and stays part of the process is something I hold onto carefully in every case I take on.
I've led both court-mandated and self-requested reunification cases. They begin differently, but I've learned each is delicate in its own way and requires a thoughtful, structured, clinically grounded approach. My work is trauma-informed and structured by design, but never one-size-fits-all. I know every family's circumstances are different, so the pace and shape of the work has to be flexible enough to meet them where they are.
That's part of why our reunification packages are built in phases, with room to properly assess and reassess both progress and areas of growth along the way. It means everyone involved, parents and children alike, gets to move at a pace that protects emotional safety first.
What I want families and partners to understand
Reunification therapy is not about forcing a relationship. It's about creating the conditions for healing, accountability, communication, and transparency, when and where appropriate, with the goal of gradual reunification. That distinction matters to me, and it shapes how I show up in every session.
Why I do this work
At Full Joy Mental Health Services, I bring clinical experience, warmth, and a culturally responsive lens to help families navigate this kind of transition with care and intention. I know how delicate and, at times, how hard this season can be for a family. Showing up for people in the middle of it, with structure and with heart, is what this practice is built on.
If your family needs support, or you work alongside families who do, I'd love to connect and talk through whether this might be the right fit for you.
